Summary
Linguistics is an area of knowledge that has deep relations with information science and knowledge organization especially with regard to the thematic treatment of information and in the activities of representation of scientific and organic information. However, beyond methodological approaches, linguistics is key to understanding the theoretical phenomena of Information Science. In this sense, this course aims to support the study and understanding of the main theoreticians of linguistics, such as Saussure, Chomsky, Bakhtin, and from this support, to enable the application of linguistic theories in Information Science and in the organization of knowledge, especially regarding the relations between language and discourse. Finally, based on the study of the elements of Knowledge Organization and Representation, it seeks to highlight the linguistic and terminological elements present in the instruments of organization and representation of knowledge.

Summary
Based on the interface relations between Linguistics and Knowledge Organization, the course starts with a historical overview of the emergence of linguistic studies in order to understand the emergence of Modern Linguistics. Next, some of the main theorists (Saussure, Benveniste, Chomsky) are detailed in order to have a panorama of the development of Linguistics in the last hundred years. Finally, based on the studies of the elements of Knowledge Organization and Information Representation, we will try to present aspects and perspectives on the method of Archive Document Description based on the methods of Textual Linguistics, whose purpose is to help in the comprehension of the text and its structures containing the meanings of sociocultural contexts and sociocommunicative processes, because, after all, every text has its context.

Then, a process of competence development in the students about the concepts that underlie the main characteristics of Online Social Networking Services is initiated. Thus, knowledge organization contributes especially with regard to the thematic treatment of information and in information representation activities. In this sense, this course aims to support the study and understanding of recent texts about the themes related to representation, organization, access, classification, description, that is, the activities related to the creation of representation systems. It seeks to foster these discussions and deepen the knowledge related to these areas.
